OUR MISSION

Team Rowan is on mission to honor Rowan Shimer by supporting queer and transgender youth and their families. We’re a team devoted to helping LGBTQ+ kids navigate the journey of coming out and living their truth. We act with love in our hearts, serving the community by giving back, learning to transform together, while supporting one another as a team of compassionate allies.

Team Core Values

  • We strive to assure that love wins. We act with love in our hearts—for each other, our community, and ourselves. Love is a choice with the power to heal and unite us. It’s the most powerful energy in the universe. It’s transformational, it heals, it gives us strength and courage. We choose love.

  • We believe what we seek is in ourselves. It lies within us all, but the truth is often more complicated than we expect. Being true to ourselves can be challenging. But through that truth, kindness can be found. When we find it, we must learn to live with it. Find your truth.

  • We find peace by realizing who we are at the deepest level. Peace is the manifestation of human compassion. And peace isn’t just something we wish for—it’s something we have the power to make. But first it’s what we become, something we do and extend to others.

  • We believe family is not an important thing, it's everything. Whether it’s the family we’re given or the family we’ve made. It's the humans in our lives (and sometimes furry friends) who want us in theirs. And if we’re lucky, it’s both. Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten. Together, we make a family.

  • We’re dedicated to serving our community. Together, as a team, we discover the best way to find ourselves is to lose ourselves in the service of others. Our acts of kindness are worth more than we think. Because no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. To serve is beautiful.

    Explore and discover your authentic self through creativity and self expression. We seek to create a safe space of peers and allies that nurture and celebrate your unique voice while having fun playing and making: art, writing, gaming, cosplay, crafts and more.

  • Learning

    Workshops | Support Groups | Presentations

    Find support by connecting with peers, leaders, experts and organizations in our community. Our objective is to reduce fear and anxiety by helping kids and parents find resources to navigate a gender expansive life and build an affirming home together.

  • Giving

    Fundraising | Volunteering | Improving

    Build strength and heal by caring for and protecting others. We turn passion into positive action as advocates and allies of the broader LGBTQ+ community, promoting peace and kindness, while improving our local communities.
